Begin the morning by saying to thyself, I shall meet with the busybody, the ungrateful, arrogant, deceitful, envious, unsocial. All these things happen to them by reason of their ignorance of what is good and evil. But I who have seen the nature of the good, that it is beautiful, can neither be injured by any of them, nor can I be angry with my kinsman, nor hate him. For we are made for co-operation, like feet, like hands, like eyelids, like the rows of the upper and lower teeth.
— Marcus Aurelius

The problem
Read ≠ remembered.
A week after finishing a book, most of it is gone. Saved articles pile up unread, and the video you meant to take notes on is lost somewhere in your history. Keyaways does one job: pull out the ideas that matter, and bring them back until you keep them.
How it works
From input to memory in three steps
- 1
Pick a book, or bring your own
Browse the library, or paste a link, drop in a PDF, DOCX or PPTX, or share a YouTube video. Files up to 5 MB.
- 2
Get the Keyaways
AI extracts the key takeaways, chapter by chapter. About 15 minutes to read, or put it on audio for the commute.
- 3
Keep them
Turn any Keyaway or highlight into a flashcard in one tap. Spaced repetition brings it back just before you'd forget.
Features
Everything between reading it and remembering it
Extract from anything
Links, PDFs, Word and PowerPoint files, and YouTube videos — Keyaways reads the transcript for you. Every extract lands in My Extracts, with a link back to the source.
Read or listen
Switch between text and audio at any point. Speed control, 15-second skips, sleep timer and offline downloads.
Flashcards with spaced repetition
Question, fill-in-the-blank and key-concept cards, generated from what you read. Track what you've mastered.
Shorts
One idea per card. Swipe through key takeaways in spare minutes, tap Remember to add one to your review.
Ask the book
Chat about any book or chapter. Get a concept explained, go deeper, or get the takeaways back in two languages.
What does he mean by ‘made for co-operation’?
That people depend on each other the way hands and feet do — so resenting others is like one hand fighting the other.
A reader you'll stay in
Light, sepia and dark themes. Adjustable type. Highlight, copy, look up or translate any passage.

What is Keyaways?
Keyaways is an iPhone and Android app that condenses books, articles, PDFs and videos into key takeaways — Keyaways — that take about 15 minutes to read or listen to. It then turns them into flashcards and uses spaced repetition so you remember them.
What can I import?
Web links, PDF, DOCX, PPTX and ODT files up to 5 MB, and YouTube or other video links with captions. You can paste a link, attach a file, or share straight from another app. Importing your own content is part of the Pro plan.
How long does one summary take?
Most summaries take around 15 minutes to read. Each one is split into chapters with timestamps, so you can stop and pick up where you left off, in text or audio.
How is Keyaways different from other book summary apps?
Other apps stop once you've read the summary. Keyaways keeps going: any Keyaway or highlight becomes a flashcard in one tap, and spaced repetition brings it back until you know it. You can also extract takeaways from your own articles, documents and videos, not just the library.
Is there a free version?
Yes. Without paying you get Your Daily Keyaway — one free summary every day — plus search, previews and basic Shorts. Premium and Pro both start with a 7-day free trial.
How do I cancel the free trial?
Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings before the 7 days end and you won't be charged. We also send a reminder email before the trial ends.
Can I listen offline?
Yes. Premium and Pro members can download summaries and listen without a connection, with background playback, speed control and a sleep timer.
Which languages does Keyaways support?
The app and this website are available in English, German, French, Japanese and Traditional Chinese. You can set your content language in Settings, and the chat's translate mode returns takeaways in two languages.
