These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Keyaways mobile app and the website at www.keyaways.com (together, the "Service"), provided by Keyaways ("Keyaways", "we", "our" or "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Keyaways condenses books, articles, documents and videos into key takeaways ("Keyaways") that you can read or listen to, and helps you remember them with flashcards, spaced repetition, Shorts and AI chat. Some features require a paid subscription. We may add, change or remove features over time; if we remove a feature that is a core part of a paid plan, we will tell you in advance.
2. Eligibility and Your Account
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity on your account.
- The information you give us must be accurate. One account is for one person.
3. Subscriptions, Free Trials and Refunds
3.1 Plans
Keyaways offers a free tier and paid plans (such as Premium and Pro). The features and price of each plan are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
3.2 Free trials
Paid plans may start with a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically and you are charged. We send a reminder before a trial ends.
3.3 Renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and you manage or cancel them in that store's subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the current period. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
3.4 Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. We cannot issue refunds for purchases made through their stores.
4. Your Content
"Your content" means the links, files and videos you import, and the highlights, notes, flashcards and chat messages you create in the Service.
- You retain full and exclusive ownership of your content. We do not claim any rights, ownership or license to it.
- Your content is stored and processed solely to provide the Service to you.
- We will never use your content to train AI models, for advertising or marketing, or share it with third parties for any purpose beyond delivering the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Your responsibility for what you import
Only import content you have the right to use. Extracts are generated for your personal learning; do not use the Service to reproduce or distribute other people's copyrighted work.
5. AI-Generated Content
Takeaways, audio, flashcards, translations and chat replies generated from your content belong to you. We do not claim any copyright, ownership or license over them.
AI output can be incomplete or inaccurate. It is provided for learning and is not professional, medical, legal or financial advice. Check important information against the original source.
6. Our Library Content
The book summaries, audio, Shorts and other content we publish in the library are owned by Keyaways or our licensors. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable right to read and listen to them in the app. You may not copy, resell, redistribute or publicly perform them, or use automated tools to extract them.
7. Acceptable Use
When using the Service, you agree not to:
- Break any law, or infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy
- Import malware, or content that is illegal or intended to harm others
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data, or interfere with the Service's security or operation
- Reverse-engineer the app, or scrape, resell or share access to the Service
- Use the Service to build a competing product or dataset
8. Suspension and Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see www.keyaways.com/delete-account).
We may suspend or close your account for a material breach of these Terms, such as the misuse described in section 7, or where required by law. Where reasonable, we will notify you first and give you a chance to fix the issue. If we close your account without a breach on your part, we will help you arrange a pro-rated refund of any prepaid period through the relevant app store where possible.
9. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep the Service accurate and available, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every summary or AI output is complete and correct.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Keyaways is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. If a dispute arises, please contact us first — most issues can be solved quickly. Disputes that cannot be resolved by negotiation will be settled through mediation or arbitration in Hong Kong. This does not affect any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
